A Florida abortion activist told U.S. House leaders Thursday that she supports aborting unborn babies for any reason through all nine months of pregnancy.

Fox News reports Stephanie Piñeiro, the co-executive director of Florida Access Network, testified during a House Judiciary Committee hearing about the Texas heartbeat law, joining Democrat lawmakers and activists in calling for it to be ruled unconstitutional.

One of the pro-life lawmakers on the committee, U.S. Rep. Mike Johnson, R-Louisiana, questioned Piñeiro about the logic of her pro-abortion position.

“Anybody should have the right to have an abortion at any time for any reason,” Piñeiro told him.

Johnson began by asking Piñeiro if her organization believes it is wrong to murder a 10-year-old child, according to the report.

“No one should be forced to remain pregnant if they don’t want to,” she responded.

When Johnson asked again, she claimed to be insulted. He continued by asking if her organization supports infanticide or partial-birth abortions. Again, Piñeiro refused to directly answer his questions.

“What my organization is for is to support the people who need abortion care,” she replied.

When Johnson asked Piñeiro if she supports abortions all the way up to nine months of pregnancy, she tried to dismiss the question, saying she disagreed “with the premise” but, when pressed, she admitted, “Anybody should have the right to have an abortion at any time for any reason.”

Johnson asked her to explain why it is ok to take the life of a late-term baby in the womb but not a newborn, but Piñeiro said she did not understand his point.

“Does abortion take the life of something that’s alive?” Johnson asked.

“No one should be forced to remain pregnant against their will,” Piñeiro answered.

Frustrated, Johnson ended by telling her, “Ma’am, you’re not answering my questions.”

He also asked a Texas abortionist about when life begins and whether sex-selection abortions are ok, but she also refused to directly answer his questions.

Piñeiro was one of several abortion activists who testified at the hearing about the Texas heartbeat law. The pro-life legislation prohibits abortions once an unborn baby’s heartbeat is detectable, about six weeks of pregnancy.

The law is saving as many as 100 unborn babies from abortion every day and has the potential to save tens of thousands more. In 2020, about 54,000 unborn babies were aborted in Texas, and about 85 percent happened after six weeks of pregnancy, according to state health statistics.

By six weeks, an unborn baby already has a beating heart and his/her own DNA, separate and unique from the mother’s. The baby’s limbs and major organs are beginning to form, and he/she can move around and respond to light touch. Scientists even have detected unborn babies’ brain waves as early as 6 1/2 weeks after conception, according to the Charlotte Lozier Institute.

About a dozen states have passed heartbeat laws to protect unborn babies from abortion, but Texas is the first to be allowed to enforce its law. Whether the law will remain in effect or ultimately be upheld as constitutional in court remains uncertain. On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court heard the Biden administration’s request to block the law, but it has not ruled yet.

A new poll from the University of Houston/Texas Southern University found a solid 55 percent of Texas residents support the life-saving legislation.
