Chuck Schumer complained about wide-spread workforce shortages Wednesday, saying American families are not “reproducing” enough young workers to fill jobs.
But the New York Democrat’s solution is not to encourage more mothers and fathers to choose life for their unborn babies. Schumer does not want to limit or even discourage abortions, which have destroyed more than 63 million unborn children’s lives in the past 50 years.
Instead, he wants to grant citizenship to 11 million illegal immigrants, according to the Tampa Free Press.
Speaking at a press conference in Washington, D.C., Schumer brought up problems with the economy, including a massive worker shortage, to make the case for Democrats’ immigration agenda.
“We have a population that is not reproducing on its own with the same level that it used to,” he said, referring to the declining birth rate. “The only way we’re going to have a good future in America is if we welcome and embrace immigrants, the Dreamers, and all of them.”
Schumer went on to attack pro-life Republican lawmakers as nasty and immoral, saying, “Latino voters and most Americans understand the stark difference between our values and those of Republican candidates,” and “BS spread by these right-wing people” is “nastiness,” according to the report.

However, one of Democrat leaders’ “values” is abortion on demand, something most people oppose. Schumer and other party leaders want to pass a radical pro-abortion bill that would force states to legalize abortions for basically any reason up to birth again and force taxpayers to pay for them.
Whether one agrees or disagrees with Schumer’s immigration policies, he is missing a major problem affecting America’s economic struggles: abortion. The deadly practice destroys hundreds of thousands of unborn babies’ lives every year – children who otherwise would have grown up to become valuable contributors to society.
A report earlier this year by the U.S. Congressional Joint Economic Committee Republicans found that abortions cause catastrophic economic loss, including approximately $6.9 trillion in 2019 alone.
“The issue of birth rate represents a real social emergency,” the pope said in May. “It is not immediately perceptible, like other problems that occupy the news, but it is very urgent. Fewer and fewer children are being born, and this means impoverishing everyone’s future.”
Due to declining birth rates, a 2020 study in The Lancet predicted a “jaw-dropping” global population crash by the end of the century that will force the world to “reorganize societies.” The global fertility rate is about half of what it was in 1950. According to the report, women had an average of 4.7 children in 1950, compared to a 2.4 average in 2017. By 2100, the researchers predicted it will fall below 1.7.
Much of this is due to the normalization of abortion (the intentional and unnecessary killing of babies in the womb) – something Schumer and other Democrat leaders have been pushing for years.
One of their top priorities is a bill nicknamed the Abortion Without Limits Up to Birth Act, which would force states to legalize abortions for basically any reason up to birth and force taxpayers to pay for them. The bill, which Democrats named the Women’s Health Protection Act, also would end parental consent for minors and jeopardize conscience protections for doctors and nurses who refuse to abort unborn babies.
American Thinker blogger Olivia Murray said Democrat leaders are pushing America toward more disaster. She outlined the problem that they are not seeing:
1. Roe v. Wade legalizes national abortion.
2. Democrats champion abortion, citing it as a panacea to overpopulation, the oppressive patriarchy, and recently, inflation.
3. Abortion currently kills more than 2,300 Americans every day.
4. America experiences a worker shortage.
Why? Why does it have to be this way? Why do the Democrats have to burn it all down before they learn?
Meanwhile, pro-life Republicans are trying to rebuild a culture of life post-Roe v. Wade. Currently, 14 states are enforcing pro-life laws that prohibit or strictly limit the killing of unborn babies in abortions, and more are fighting in court to do so. New research estimates these laws already have saved as many as 10,000 unborn babies’ lives.
