A new report from the Guttmacher Institute shows abortions increased from 2017-2020 and approximately 930,000 babies were killed in abortions in 2020 during the first year of COVID.

The report from the pro-abortion group previously affiliated with Planned Parenthood is not surprising given the extraordinary ways in which blue states promoted abortions during that time period. Several states from California to Illinois to New York legalized abortions on demand up to birth, passed laws funding abortions, allows nurses and other non-doctors to kill babies in abortions and made it easier to purchase dangerous abortion pills that end the lives of unborn children.

Some 862,000 babies were killed in abortions in 2017 but the Guttmacher report indicates that number increased to about 930,000 babies who lives abortion destroyed by 2020.

During the time period, blue states saw significant increases in aboritons. Abortions increased in New York from 2017-2019 as the state expanded abortions and and Illinois, which put taxpayer funding of abortions in place in January 2018 and had multiple new abortion centers open, saw abortions increase 25%. COVID helped reduce the number of aboritons as they declined 2% in Texas and 6% in New York as there were fewer pregnancies due to the pandemic.

Still, abortions nationwide increased 1% from 2019 and 8% from 2017 after declining for decades from their high of about 1.5 million abortions in the 1980s.

Missouri was one of the few states to see a decrease in abortions after the closing of all but one abortion business in the state.

Ultimately the lives of one in 5 babies are ended in abortion, a heartbreaking figure knowing plenty of abortion alternatives are available nationwide and contraception and birth control have never been more inexpensive or readily available.

The figures come out just days or maybe weeks before the Supreme Court is likely overturning the Roe v. Wade decision that has resulted in killing 63 million babies in abortions since 1973. Although overturning Roe doesn’t make abortion illegal nationwide and people from pro-life states can trael to pro-abortion states for abortions, it will certainly reduce the number of babies killed. Figures from Texas, which has had an abortion ban starting at 6 weeks on the books since last September, show as many as 15,000 babies have been saved thanks to the abortion ban.

The new abortion numbers also show the very dangerous mifepristone abortion pill is now the number one method of ending the life of a baby before birth and Guttmacher says abortion drugs now account for 54% of all abortions.

That’s also not surprising given a new study that received attention in January showing the abortion pill injuring more women than ever before. warns that the risks of the abortion pill to women’s health likely are much higher than what the government is reporting.

Published in December in the journal “Health Services Research and Managerial Epidemiology,” the research found a “significant” gap in reports on abortion complications from the drug mifepristone, according to Fox News.

The findings call into question a December action by the Biden administration that removed safety regulations from the abortion drug. The Food and Drug Administration claimed that mifepristone is very low risk when it revoked a requirement that the drug be provided in person by a medical professional.

Now, abortionists are selling the abortion drug online – often without seeing or even talking to the woman first. Though pro-abortion groups claim the abortion drug is extremely safe for women, a growing body of research suggests otherwise.

Another 2021 study by the Charlotte Lozier Institute found that abortion-related emergency room visits by women taking the abortion drug increased more than 500 percent between 2002 and 2015. Researchers, looking at Medicaid code records, found “423,000 confirmed induced abortions and 121,283 subsequent ER visits occurring within 30 days of the procedure.”

Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, new government health data shows a massive hospitalization rate due to abortion drugs after the government began allowing mail-order abortion drugs in 2020. According to the data, more than 10,000 women who received the abortion drugs by mail needed hospital treatment in 2020, or about one in 17 women.
