The supervisors of San Mateo County, California voted Tuesday to give $1 million to the largest abortion chain in America while doing nothing to help pregnancy resource centers and other support services for mothers who choose life for their babies.
The Daily Journal reports the county leaders voted unanimously in favor of the spending measure. Dubbed the Women’s Reproductive Freedom and Healthcare Privacy Action Plan, it gives $1 million to Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, half of which will be used to buy new ultrasound equipment and examination beds, according to the report. It is not yet known what the other half of the money will be used for.
The county supervisors created the new spending measure in response to the likelihood that the U.S. Supreme Court will overturn Roe v. Wade this summer and allow states to protect unborn babies from abortion again, according to the report.
Local Planned Parenthood leaders praised the action, describing the supervisors as champions of “reproductive health care.”

“Your continued support and partnership is greatly appreciated and serves as a very clear example of what our elected leaders can do to proactively champion reproductive health care,” said Dianna Zamora-Marroquin, spokesperson for Planned Parenthood Mar Monte.
This year, Gov. Gavin Newsom also wants to spend an additional $145 million specifically on abortions. The money would be used to fund elective abortions for women whose insurance does not cover it, government promotion of abortion, travel and lodging expenses for women who have to travel for abortions and incentives for medical students to become abortionists.
Newsom said abortion is one of California’s “values,” and he will “fight like hell” to “protect it.” He also wants California to become an abortion destination for women in states that are expected to ban the killing of unborn babies if Roe is overturned.
These politicians’ actions do not help women or families. They are not even pro-choice; they actively promote the killing of unborn babies in abortions and do nothing to help pregnancy resource centers that support mothers and babies in need.
The money and efforts could go a long way toward actually helping families, such as expanding prenatal care and other basic medical care to reduce infant and maternal mortality, financial and housing assistance, education, counseling and more. But California leaders want to support abortion instead.
And more unborn babies are being aborted as a result of California’s radical pro-abortion laws. A new report from the Guttmacher Institute shows an 8-percent increase in abortions nation-wide from 2017 to 2020, with the biggest jumps in California, Illinois and other Democrat-led states that have been aggressive about passing pro-abortion legislation.
California has very few limits on abortion, and it forces taxpayers to pay for them. A new law slated to go into effect next year will force all public colleges and universities to provide abortions on campus. Newsom and Democrat lawmakers also are working closely with the abortion industry to expand abortions in other ways.
