In between making balloon animals and squirting a fake flower that sprays water, a Saturday Night Live comedian joked about aborting her unborn baby on the show over the weekend.

Dressed in a clown suit, Cecily Strong claimed she “wouldn’t be a clown on TV here today” if she had not had an abortion at age 23, Breitbart reports.

“Here’s my truth. I know I wouldn’t be a clown on TV here today if it weren’t for the abortion I had the day before my 23rd birthday,” Strong’s character, Goober the Clown, said. “Clowns have been helping each other and their pregnancies since the caves. It’s going to happen, so it oughta be safe, legal and accessible.”

The skit attacked the Texas heartbeat law, which prohibits abortions once an unborn baby’s heartbeat is detectable, about six weeks of pregnancy. Texas is the first state to be allowed to enforce a heartbeat abortion ban, and already it has saved thousands of babies’ lives.

Referring to the new law, Strong’s clown character said she did not want to talk about her abortion, but “people keep bringing it up, so I gotta keep talking about freaking abortion.”

“But it’s a rough subject, so we’re gonna do fun clown stuff to make it more palatable. Wee! Hey, who wants a balloon animal?” she said, balloon in hand. “I wish I didn’t have to [talk about] this, because the abortion I had at 23 is my personal clown business. But that’s all some people in this country want to discuss — even though clown abortion was legalized in 1973 in Clown v. Wade.”

Then, she blamed people for supporting abortion in only the hard cases, implying that any reason is a good reason to abort an unborn baby, including for sex-selection or birth control.

“If you were a clown who wasn’t the victim of something sad like clown-cest, they think your clown abortion wasn’t a righteous clown abortion,” Strong continued. “I mean, what the dick is that?”

She said one of her favorite jokes was when her abortionist asked if she got pregnant on her way to the abortion facility.

“I love that joke. It’s such a good joke,” she said. “Not like a funny, ha-ha joke, but like a funny, ‘You’re not an awful person and your life isn’t over now’ joke. A-honka honka!” Stong said.

Though the audience laughed at what could hardly be called jokes, their laughter felt extremely uncomfortable and out of place. Abortion activists are desperately trying to make the killing of unborn babies in abortions seem funny, but their jokes are falling flat.

Most Americans recognize that abortion is a serious issue. Polls consistently find that a strong majority of Americans oppose abortion on demand and support laws that protect unborn babies in most or all circumstances. Several new polls also show support for heartbeat laws that protect unborn babies by prohibiting almost all abortions.

Even many Americans who support legalized abortions in certain circumstances know that the issue is not something to be flip about. They seem to have a sense of the truth that an abortion kills a child, a unique and irreplaceable human being.

The acceptance and legalization of abortion is perhaps the greatest human rights atrocity of the modern age. In the United States alone, nearly 63 million unborn babies have been aborted since 1973, and countless mothers and fathers, grandparents and siblings have been wounded.

Try as they might, abortion activists never will succeed in convincing the public that it’s funny to kill another human being.
