A Canadian doctor who has euthanized at least 400 people encouraged other doctors to join her in the life-destroying practice, calling it “rewarding work.”
The Blaze reports Ellen Wiebe is a doctor who specializes in euthanasia, which the Canadian government calls Medical Aid in Dying (MAID). In 2021, 10,064 people were legally killed via euthanasia in Canada, according to government statistics.
During a recent presentation to other doctors, Wiebe said she has euthanized at least 400 people, according to the report.
“Most of the MAID is provided by people like me who have become specialists in MAID,” Wiebe said in the presentation. “… it’s the most rewarding work we’ve ever done.”
Euthanasia initially was sold to Canadians as a means to help dying, suffering people end their lives more quickly and with their consent. However, the country soon began allowing people who were not sick or dying to be killed, too. There even is talk of legalizing the euthanasia of children.
Wiebe admitted to euthanizing a mentally ill man who was not capable of “mak[ing] informed decisions about his own personal health.” She said she took the case after the Medical Assistance in Dying program rejected him, according to the report.

“As all Canadians have rights to an assisted death, people who are lonely or poor also have those rights,” she said in a statement after the presentation.
Canada legalized euthanasia (MAID) in 2016, and every year since then, the number of people who are euthanized has grown.
Recently, lawmakers began debating whether to expand the law to allow mentally ill people and young children to be euthanized. One bill would allow doctors to euthanize patients without their consent, according to the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition.
However, there have been numerous reports of coercion and abuse recently. In one widely publicized case, a Paralympian and retired military corporal said the Canadian Department of Veterans Affairs offered her an assisted suicide after she repeatedly requested a wheelchair ramp for her home.
Canada also has one of the most liberal abortion laws in the world, and aborting unborn babies is legal for any reason up to birth.
