Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to visit a second pro-life pregnancy center Thursday in North Carolina as he highlights “the Trump administration’s steadfast support for the Right to Life.”

Pence, a strong pro-life advocate, is scheduled to participate in a round-table discussion while he is there.

Already, liberal news outlets and abortion activists are attacking Pence and the Gateway Women’s Care center because of their work for babies and mothers.

CNN, which first reported about the upcoming visit, dedicated most of its report to challenging information on the pregnancy center’s website about abortion risks and alternatives. The pro-abortion blog Jezebel did much the same in its report about the vice president’s visit.

CNN described Gateway as a “a pregnancy and sexual health center that opposes abortion rights” and “promotes misleading information regarding abortion … specifically the assertion that abortion can lead to breast cancer.”

What the pregnancy center’s website actually says is that “medical experts continue to debate the association between abortion and breast cancer,” and, “A number of reliable studies have concluded that there is an association between abortion and later development of breast cancer.” Both are true.

CNN also faulted the pregnancy center for promoting the abortion pill reversal procedure, which has saved hundreds of babies lives. It pointed to a recent study of the procedure that abortion activists and liberal news outlets misinterpreted to claim the procedure is dangerous. The results actually found that abortion pills are dangerous, not the reversal.

Gateway, like thousands of other pregnancy centers across the U.S., provides free resources to pregnant and parenting mothers and babies, including pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, STI tests, counseling and more. These non-profit organizations provide hope and support to struggling families and help them choose life for their babies.

In August, the vice president and his daughter Charlotte also visited a pro-life pregnancy center in Florida. While there, he praised the pro-life movement for being dedicated to “generosity, compassion, and love for women and unborn children.”

“Life is winning because of the compassion and love that have been shown to women facing crisis pregnancies all across this country now and for decades,” Pence said.
