Pastor Franklin Graham has a message for pro-life Christians in America: run for office. The respected Christian leader says more people who embrace the pro-life ethic are needed in office to combat the extremism of pro-abortion Democrats.

Here’s more:

“The left has wanted to change [abortion] laws at the state level, and here at the Capitol. We have to be vigilant in encouraging lawmakers to stand for [the right to] life. We must also try to defend lawmakers who want to support life … get elected,” said Graham.

The president and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse then added: “I hope that in this next election cycle there will be many Christians who will run for office … We need Christians in Washington and every state capital. We need them on the school boards. We need them everywhere.”

Graham also wants women who have had abortions and regret their decision to know there is hope and healing in Jesus Christ and that they can find love and forgiveness.

“God gave us life, and we only have one life to live. … I want every woman out there who has ever had an abortion, I want them to know that God loves them. And God will forgive them, if they’re willing to come to Him in repentance,” said Graham.

“We’re all sinners. Every last one of us is a sinner … but we must be willing to come God’s way — through Christ,” added Graham.

The need for more pro-life elected officials is real, especially after Democrats voted against a bill this month to stop infanticide.

House Republicans have approved new legislation that would stop infanticide and protect babies who survive abortion. This is a similar measure to one that pro-abortion former Speaker Nancy Pelosi blocked 80 times when she ran the House.

The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act requires that, when a baby is born alive following an abortion, health care practitioners must exercise the same degree of professional skill and care that would be offered to any other child born alive at the same gestational age. It also requires that, following appropriate care, health care workers must transport the living child immediately to a hospital.

Current federal law does not sufficiently protect a child born following an abortion.

In addition, the bill applies the existing penalties of 18 U.S.C. Sec. 1111 (the federal murder statute) to anyone who performs “an overt act that kills a child born alive.” Further, the bill provides a civil cause of action to women who are harmed by violations of the act.

Republicans approved the common sense bill on a 220-210 vote with all Republicans voting for the pro-life bill and all Democrats but two voting for infanticide. Three GOP members ere absent, Rep. Vicente González voted present and pro-life Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas voted for the bill.
