As with so many other pro-abortion efforts, billionaire George Soros’s money is behind attempts to discredit the life-saving abortion pill reversal technology.

Last week, the pro-abortion group Open Democracy published an investigation that portrayed the abortion pill reversal procedure as dangerous and unethical. However, the group did not actually find any evidence to back up its claims.

One News Now reports Heartbeat International, which runs the 24-hour abortion pill reversal hotline, discovered that Open Democracy is a leftist advocacy group funded by Soros and other wealthy abortion activists.

“It turns out that George Soros, as well as many other abortion lobbyist and pro-abortion organizations, fund Open Democracy, which describes themselves as feminist investigative journalism in front-line fight, and they’re searching for ways to fight those people who are against what they call women’s rights,” Heartbeat spokeswoman Andrea Trudden told One News Now.

Soros also is a major donor to Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion chain in the U.S. Last year, it reported a record 354,000 abortions. Soros’s money also is heavily involved in politics and elections, including campaigns to defeat pro-life candidates.

Not “pro-choice” but pro-abortion, Soros and others are trying to discredit the abortion pill reversal procedure, which gives women a chance to reverse the effects of the abortion drug mifepristone and save their babies’ lives.

According to Heartbeat International, the procedure has saved more than 2,000 unborn babies and mothers from the pain and death of abortion.

Trudden said their hotline nurses did a good job handling the undercover sting professionally.

“Our nurses were listening, and they walked them through … what they needed to do in order to obtain a reversal,” she said. “Each of them, just before the final step of actually connecting them with a provider, they said, ‘No. You know what? I changed my mind. Thank you. Have a good day.’”

She lamented that the undercover investigators took time away from the nurses that could have been spent actually helping women in need.

Though the Open Democracy investigators did not uncover anything other than what pro-lifers are openly saying, the group attacked the abortion pill reversal anyway, quoting pro-abortion politicians and abortion advocacy groups to “confirm” that pro-lifers are doing something wrong.

The abortion pill reversal procedure works by counteracting the abortion drug mifepristone, one of two typically taken together to abort and then expel the unborn baby. Mifepristone makes the uterus inhospitable to new life by blocking the hormone progesterone. The reversal procedure involves giving the mother doses of progesterone to counteract the abortion drug. The abortion pill reversal procedure does not work after the mother takes the second drug, misoprostol, one or two days later.

Research and medical experts indicate that the procedure is safe and effective. The American Association of Pro-life Obstetricians and Gynecologists supports it, and even a prestigious Yale School of Medicine doctor told the New York Times that the treatment “makes biological sense,” and he would recommend it to his own daughter.
