A California school district dropped plans last week to allow Planned Parenthood to open a facility inside a Los Angeles-area high school in response to parents’ outrage.

Ryan Heath, an attorney with The Gavel Project, told Fox News that hundreds of parents showed up to protest July 18 at the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District after they learned about the proposed partnership with the abortion chain.

“These parents were up in arms because there was a proposal to put one of these facilities at John Glenn High School,” Heath said.

The contract proposal states that Planned Parenthood would run a facility inside the high school to provide physical examinations, contraception, STD testing and treatment and “referrals for additional medical or other health care services,” likely including abortions and transgender hormones. The proposal also says students may receive its services without their parents’ knowledge or consent.

Heath said there is nothing in the contract that stops Planned Parenthood from giving out transgender hormones to students on campus without their parents’ knowledge.

“This is about trying to create transgender conversion camps on high school campuses where kids are most susceptible to peer pressure,” he told Fox News.

Whittier Daily News described the protest outside the school board meeting, noting that more than 100 people showed up, including a parent with a sign that read: “If Planned Parenthood comes to Norwalk, my child will not enroll.”

Local resident Becky Walter told the newspaper: “Had it not been for local groups, this district would have approved Planned Parenthood coming onto John Glenn High School with a five-year contract. I don’t want a Planned Parenthood in our high school.”

In a statement before the meeting, the school board announced plans to postpone discussion on the matter.

“As a result, action [on the Planned Parenthood proposal[ will not be taken this evening during the regularly scheduled Board Meeting,” the statement read. “The Board of Education and Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District has no further comment at this time.”

Parents’ outrage may have prompted the school district to cancel the plans altogether. During the meeting Monday, Superintendent John Lopez said unless he hears otherwise, “I don’t plan on bringing this back,” according to the newspaper.

The next school board meeting is scheduled for Aug. 8.

Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion chain, already operates facilities in several other Los Angeles-area high schools.

According to Fox 26 News:

In 2019, Planned Parenthood announced an initiative to open 50 “Wellbeing Centers” across Los Angeles-area high schools. The program got off the ground with a $10 million dollar investment from Los Angeles County and $6 million from Planned Parenthood, according to The Washington Post.

At the time of the announcement in 2019, five high schools already had such Planned Parenthood clinics on their campuses.

It is not clear if any have been added since then.

Planned Parenthood has aborted more than 8 million unborn babies since abortion became legal nation-wide in 1973. Its most recent annual report showed a record number of abortions in 2020: 354,871, or about 40 percent of all abortions in the U.S.

On its website, Planned Parenthood also boasts of being the single largest provider of sex education in the U.S., reaching about 1.5 million people each year.

Among its worst teaching points, Planned Parenthood tells children that promiscuity is ok. “There’s nothing bad or unhealthy about having a big number of sexual partners,” it tells students on its Tumbler page. Planned Parenthood’s booklet for HIV-positive youth, “Healthy, Happy and Hot,” tells young people that it is their “human right” to not tell their sexual partner that they have HIV.

In 2021, parents in Tacoma, Washington expressed outrage after their students received a Planned Parenthood flyer that promoted sex to 11-year-olds and told them that they could get an abortion without a parent’s knowledge.

Numerous communities have rejected Planned Parenthood in their children’s schools. The whole Massachusetts legislature rejected a bill in 2017 that recommended the Planned Parenthood middle school sex education curriculum. Parents said the program teaches children as young as 12 “how to perform oral and anal sex.”
