The evidence is strong that Democrat presidential team Joe Biden and Kamala Harris support killing unborn babies in abortions up to birth.

It’s clear that Biden and Harris have a radical pro-abortion agenda that is hugely out of touch with most Americans. They want to force taxpayers to fund abortions, codify Roe v. Wade into federal law and reinstate rules that force nuns and other religious employers to fund birth control that may cause abortions in their employee health plans.

But liberal news outlets largely have failed to inform their audiences about these unpopular stances. Some fact checkers even have tried to argue that Biden does not support “abortion up until the point of birth.”

Ramesh Ponnuru, a columnist at National Review, said the evidence suggests otherwise.

He noted that both Biden and Harris strongly support Roe v. Wade, which forced states to legalize abortion on demand in 1973 and led to more than 61 million abortions. If elected, Biden said he would support efforts to codify Roe into federal law so that abortions would remain legal even if the U.S. Supreme Court repeals the infamous ruling.

Ponnuru wrote: “Roe requires that abortion be permissible even at the end of pregnancy whenever a physician believes it necessary to protect a woman’s health. Doe v. Bolton, the companion case to Roe, says that ‘the medical judgment may be exercised in the light of all factors — physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman’s age — relevant to the well-being of the patient.’”

SIGN THE PLEDGE: We Can’t Vote for Pro-Abortion Joe Biden

Back in 2017, a fact checker at the liberal Washington Post confirmed that, because of Roe v. Wade, the U.S. is one of only seven countries in the world to allow elective abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

“We should note that some of the seven countries allow abortions after 20 weeks, but ban it after 24 weeks. And other countries have no federal limits, but legislate at the state or provincial level, similar to the United States,” fact checker Michelle Ye Hee Lee wrote at the time.

Some states, including Colorado and New Mexico, allow abortions without restriction through all nine months, and abortionists there openly advertise late-term abortions in the third trimester.

Thousands of viable, late-term unborn babies are aborted in the U.S. every year. Based on Centers for Disease Control numbers, the estimate is about 8,000; however, the CDC report does not include data from every state and the number is almost certainly higher. Abortion activists also have admitted that most late-term abortions are on healthy mothers carrying healthy unborn babies.

Biden himself has said he support abortions without restrictions. In June, when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on a major abortion case out of Louisiana, Biden responded with his belief in a “woman’s constitutional right to choice under any circumstances.” During the coronavirus shutdowns, he even called elective abortions an “essential medical service.”

Ponnuru said Biden and Harris also have sponsored legislation to expand late-term abortions, including the “Women’s Health Protection Act.” Nicknamed the “Abortion Without Limits Until Birth Act” by pro-life groups, the bill would have invalidated nearly all state and federal abortion regulations, including waiting periods, informed consent requirements, bans on late-term abortions and sex-selection abortions and more.

Harris also voted against a bill to prohibit abortions after 20 weeks and another to protect newborns who survive abortions from infanticide.

Their party supports abortions without limits and taxpayer-funded abortions, too. The party platform calls for “reproductive health, rights, and justice … including safe and legal abortion” and opposes “federal and state laws that create barriers to reproductive health and rights.”

Biden and Harris have not tried to clarify their position on late-term abortions either. Polls consistently show that most Americans oppose late-term abortions, so there would be little risk of losing voter support by saying that they oppose it, too. It is telling that they have not.

As Ponnuru concluded, “The evidence justifies the conclusion that Biden and Harris believe abortion should be legal at any stage of pregnancy so long as an abortionist is willing to say it will promote the mother’s emotional health — and journalists who assert otherwise are creating confusion where none need exist.”
