The Democratic Party is hugely out of touch with Black Americans on the abortion issue.

While the party and its presidential candidate Joe Biden support abortions without restrictions and want to force taxpayers to pay for them, most Americans do not. That includes most Black Americans, a large majority of whom typically vote Democrat, according to a new Gallup poll.

The poll found that 32 percent of Black Americans believe abortions should be legal under any circumstances, which is the party’s and Biden’s position. Meanwhile, less than half (46 percent) said they believe abortions are “morally acceptable.”

According to Gallup, “Black Americans have become more liberal on abortion over time, but they remain more conservative than their fellow Democrats.” According to Gallup, “Black Americans have become more liberal on abortion over time, but they remain more conservative than their fellow Democrats.”

In comparison, nearly half (45 percent) of all non-Black Democrats believe abortion should be legal under any circumstances, and 66 percent said abortions are morally acceptable, the polling group found.

The numbers suggest Biden could be in a difficult predicament, Gallup speculated.

SIGN THE PLEDGE: We Can’t Vote for Pro-Abortion Joe Biden

“… considering the greater diversity of views on abortion among Black Americans than among Democrats more generally, it is at least within the realm of possibility that Black voters who are personally anti-abortion will be negatively affected by Biden’s abortion position,” the polling group commented. “More generally, Biden is going to have to maintain his support for abortion rights as expected by progressives while attempting to maintain enthusiasm among Black Americans and other religiously oriented voting segments.”

But Biden already has decided to bow to the billion-dollar abortion industry, rather than the will of most Americans. He made that clear last year when he announced that he no longer supports the Hyde Amendment. The decades-old amendment has saved more than 2 million babies’ lives by prohibiting taxpayer funding for elective abortions. Polls consistently show that most Americans support it, and most Democrat politicians used to, too. But now it is a key target of the abortion industry, which is backing Biden for president.

Biden also said he believes in a “woman’s constitutional right to choice under any circumstances.” During the coronavirus shutdowns, he also called elective abortions an “essential medical service.”

But most Americans disagree. Earlier this summer, Gallup found 55 percent of all Americans take a pro-life position on abortion, wanting all (21 percent) or almost all (39 percent) abortions made illegal. That’s a decline of 5 percent from its 2019 poll but an uptick of 2 percent from its 2018 figures.

The poll found 43 percent of Americans want all (29 percent) or almost all (14 percent) abortions legal. That is up from the 38 percent figure Gallup found last year but the same as the 2018 figure. Only 29 percent of Americans agree with Biden that all abortions should remain legal up to birth.

Additionally, a CBS News poll from June found that the majority of Americans oppose killing unborn babies in abortions or want more limits on abortion, which basically is unlimited in many states. The poll found 43 percent of Americans think abortions should be generally available while 55 percent say it should be more limited or not be permitted at all.

Another poll from Marist in January found six in 10 Americans (62 percent) say that if the Supreme Court revisits Roe v. Wade, it should allow states to determine restrictions (46 percent) or make abortion illegal (16 percent). Only 33 percent say Roe v. Wade should be interpreted to allow for legal abortion any time without restriction. The 62 percent majority includes about four in 10 of those who identify as Democrats (39 percent) or as “pro-choice” (40 percent).

The poll also found a majority of Americans favor pro-life candidates over candidates who support abortion.
