Kamala Harris accused pro-life Americans of attacking women Tuesday through their work to end abortion and restore unborn babies’ right to life.

Harris, a pro-abortion Democrat who has worked closely with Planned Parenthood to punish journalists for exposing their aborted baby body parts trade, lashed out after news outlets reported about a leaked draft opinion from the Supreme Court that allegedly overturns Roe v. Wade.

“Roe v. Wade ensures a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion,” Harris responded in a statement, according to Townhall. “It is clear that opponents of Roe want to punish women and take away their rights to make decisions about their bodies.”

However, pro-life women have been leading the effort to overturn Roe and restore protections for unborn babies. These include Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch whose case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, could very well be the undoing of Roe this summer.

The Mississippi case asks the Supreme Court to overturn its 50-year-old abortion ruling, which led to the deaths of more than 63 million unborn babies and hundreds of mothers, and allow states to protect unborn babies from abortion again. Under Roe, states are forced to legalize abortions up to viability.

Polls consistently show that Americans want stronger legal protections for unborn babies than what Roe allows, and Republican lawmakers, along with a few Democrats, have been passing state laws that reflect the will of the people.

None of these laws punish women, and the pro-life movement opposes such punishments, believing women are second victims of the abortion industry along with their unborn babies.

Harris, however, mischaracterized pro-life efforts in her statement, slamming “Republican legislators in states across the country [for] weaponizing the use of the law against women.”

If the Supreme Court overturns Roe, as the draft opinion in the Mississippi case suggests, Harris claimed that all Americans’ rights will be at risk.

“If the right to privacy is weakened, every person could face a future in which the government can potentially interfere in the personal decisions you make about your life,” she said. “This is the time to fight for women and for our country with everything we have.”

In 1973, Roe v. Wade destroyed children’s rights before birth when it forced states to legalize abortions up to viability and allowed abortions up to birth.

The ruling did not help women either. Hundreds of women have died in “safe, legal” abortions and likely millions more have been harmed physically or psychologically. What’s more, a growing body of research shows that legalizing abortions does not save women’s lives.

Meanwhile, polls consistently show that Americans want strong legal protections for unborn babiesincluding women and low-income Americans.

Without Roe, researchers predict as many as 26 states would ban abortions and save hundreds of thousands of unborn babies’ lives.

The Supreme Court is expected to issue a ruling on the Mississippi abortion case sometime this summer, likely in June.
