In a CNN interview over the weekend, Lindsey Graham didn’t mince words.

The Republican senator said Democrats were the real extremists on abortion because they support abortions up to birth at taxpayer expense.

“It’s a human rights issue. What the Democratic Party proposes on abortion is barbaric. Abortion up to the moment of birth, taxpayer-funded, I think is barbaric, he said.

Graham advocated a national ban on late-term abortions so at least some babies can be protected from abortions in Democrat states that currently allow unlimited abortions up to birth for any reason.

“I welcome this debate. I think the Republican Party will be in good standing to oppose late-term abortion like most of the civilized world,” he said.

Graham also corrected CNN host Dana bash, who falsely claimed Roe v. Wade only allows abortions up to 24 weeks – ignoring the fact that it allowed abortions up to birth for states that did not want to ban abortions after viability (which is now 21 weeks).

“No, quit covering for these guys, no, no, no, your media and you keep covering for these guys,” Graham countered. “They introduce legislation that allowed abortion on demand … up to the moment of birth. That was their position in Washington. That’s the law they want to pass and nobody in your business will talk about it.”

The pro-life senator also condemned mail-order abortions.

“Sending the abortion drug through the mail is a big change in how it is provided. In 2000, when it was first approved, you had to have four visits to the doctor. … Has the FDA gone too far? … That’s what the court will decide,” he explained.
