MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell showed her pro-abortion bias on the air this week when she claimed the term “pro-life” is “not an accurate description” for Americans who believe killing unborn babies in abortions is wrong.

Mitchell made the claim while criticizing an NBC News journalist who used the term in his report about U.S. House Republicans’ pro-life actions Wednesday, according to Fox News.

The report began with Garrett Haake, senior Capitol Hill correspondent for NBC, discussing two “anti-abortion bills” that passed the new Republican-majority House: the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and a resolution condemning the recent wave of violence directed at pro-life advocates and churches.

Haake told Mitchell that U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace, R-South Carolina, voted in favor of both bills even though she complained that expanding birth control access would be a better way stop abortions, according to the report.

“She told reporters after the fact that at the end of the day, she was, as she described herself, ‘pro-life,’” Haake said. “She felt it was important to vote for these measures despite their potentially politically damaging or politically unappealing appearance, if you will -”

Mitchell interrupted at that point to criticize him for using the term “pro-life.”

“Garrett, let me just interrupt and say that pro-life is a term that they — an entire group wants to use, but that’s not an accurate description,” she said.

Haake responded by defending his word choice, saying he only used the term that Mace “used to describe herself.”

“I understand. I understand,” Mitchell replied, followed by a long pause. “Anyway, that was her explanation.”

Pro-life is the correct term, but traditional news outlets like the Associated Press, which claim to be unbiased and fact-based, tell journalists not to use it. Anti-abortion is the preferred term even though it does not best describe the pro-life movement.

Protecting human life is the fundamental goal of the pro-life movement, and, for many pro-life organizations, that also includes protecting newborns from infanticide, embryos from destruction and children and adults from assisted suicide and euthanasia – all of which are acts that intentionally and unnecessarily kill human beings.

The pro-life movement focuses primarily on abortion because it is the biggest destroyer of human life in the world. In the past 50 years, more than 64 million unborn babies have been killed in abortions in the U.S. alone.
