A pro-abortion artists’ group put up billboards across the country this fall that display “positive” messages about killing unborn babies, from describing their deaths as “health care” to “thank[ing] God for abortion.”

The Guardian reports the billboards are a project of Vote for Abortion Rights, which artist Michele Pred began in response to the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. SaveArtSpace, an artists’ group in Brooklyn, New York, also is involved.

Pred chose “positive” pro-abortion designs by 10 artists and created the ads in 14 cities across the U.S., most of them in pro-life states.

One billboard in Louisville, Kentucky, declares that “Abortion is Healthcare” alongside the image of two stethoscopes turned to form the shape of a woman’s uterus, according to the report. The billboard also describes the overturning of Roe as “a state of emergency for abortion rights right now.” Kentucky protects unborn babies from abortion.

Another billboard in New Orleans, Louisiana, tells women to “Thank God for Abortion” next to the image of an angel. A third in Atlanta, Georgia, declares that “Abortion is Life” in a flowery text, the report continues.

Louisiana bans abortions entirely, and Georgia prohibits them once an unborn baby’s heartbeat is detectable. Their pro-life laws and others already have saved about 10,000 babies’ lives, according to a new study.

Pred told the Guardian that she hopes the billboards will inspire people in pro-life states to “think differently” about abortion before they vote in the midterms.

“I wanted to put billboards out that are hopefully thought-provoking in a positive way to people who might be voting against abortion,” she said.

Here’s more from the report:

Whether on a freeway or in a neighborhood, billboards are “really one of the most democratic forms of artwork, because everyone gets exposed to them,” she said. The goal of the project, which took submissions from over 400 artists, was to get the message physically in states where conservative voting blocs or minority rule governments threaten abortion access, including Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Georgia, Nevada, Tennessee and Kentucky. Participating artists include Bud Snow, Holly Ballard Martz, Laney Baby, Lena Wolf and Hope Meng, Shireen Liane, Viva Ruiz, Wildcat Ebony Brown and Yvette Molina.

These states are major battlegrounds in the midterm election. Currently, pro-abortion Democrats control the U.S. House and, more narrowly, the U.S. Senate. Election experts predict Republicans will win back the House in November, but control of the Senate is uncertain.

Whoever wins the majority will determine the types of abortion legislation that Congress may pass in the near future, such as a national ban on abortions after 15 weeks on the pro-life side or taxpayer-funded abortions through all nine months of pregnancy on the pro-abortion side.

Polls consistently show Americans support legal protections for unborn babies, especially after the first trimester or once their heartbeat is detectable. LifeNews recently highlighted 14 recent polls here.
