A Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Knoxville, Tennessee burned down early New Year’s Eve morning.
No one was injured in the blaze, and the building is a “total loss,” the Knoxville Fire Department said, according to the Latin Times.
While abortion activists have raised speculation about arson, local fire authorities cast doubt on that theory. Assistant fire chief Mark Wilbanks told the Daily Beast that they have not determined the cause of the fire, but “we don’t have a lot of information pointing in the direction of arson.”
The abortion facility had been closed since Dec. 7 for renovations, according to the report.
Ken Peters, a pro-life advocate and pastor of Patriot Church in Lenoir City, said Christians would never commit arson or any other crime, even against a facility that aborts unborn babies.
“This is not going to stop abortion,” Peters told WATE News in response to the fire. “It’s the changing of hearts and minds. It’s the changing of laws. This might temporarily halt abortion, but this doesn’t stop it.
Peters hosts a regular pro-life prayer service near the Planned Parenthood to pray for God to restore a culture of life in America.
“We care about life,” he continued. “That’s why we’re here. We don’t want anybody hurt. Christians would never participate in any sort of destruction of property, or looting, or rioting. That’s what the world does.”

Here’s more from the Latin Times:
According to responding fire officials, they had to use a lot of water to put out the fire and get the situation under control. They noted the damage from the inferno was so extensive, making it harder to determine a cause.
“We used our ladder trucks to use a lot of water to put the fire out, which unfortunately makes it harder to dig into the evidence,” he said. “Ideally, you’d go in there with backhoes and dig it out, but we’re going to have to use hand shovels.”
The pro-life movement opposes violence and crime against abortion workers and abortion facilities just as it opposes violence against unborn babies. Pro-life organizations and ministries are committed to working legally and peacefully to end abortion and restore protections for unborn babies.
Planned Parenthood is a billion-dollar abortion chain that aborts more unborn babies than any other group in the U.S. Its most recent annual report listed more than 354,000 abortions, or about 40 percent of all abortions in the U.S. that year. Its recent annual reports also show billion-dollar revenues, including hundreds of millions of tax dollars.
The Tennessee Department of Health reported 10,880 abortions in 2018.
