South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has filed a motion today appealing a lower federal court’s ruling striking down a state law that saves babies from abortion.
The state legislature had previously passed a law to help get abortion-minded women to pregnancy centers that could provide them with better alternatives, but a lower court judge struck down the measure.
With the Supreme Court poised to take up a case from Mississippi that would allow states greater latitude to pass pro-life laws, Governor Noem thinks the time is right to appeal the decision because, under a favorable ruling, it would have a greater likelihood of standing.
