A second doctor in England is being punished for helping mothers save their unborn babies from abortion through abortion pill reversal treatments.

Christianity Daily reports the United Kingdom Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service recently prohibited Dr. Dermot Kearney from providing the life-saving treatment for the next 18 months as an investigation into his practice continues.

Kearney, a pro-life advocate and former president of the Catholic Medical Association, is one of a few doctors in the UK who provides the abortion pill reversal treatment.

The treatment has been credited with saving more than 2,000 babies’ lives across the world, and research indicates that it is safe and effective. An updated application of a treatment used for decades to prevent miscarriage, it reverses the effects of the abortion drug mifepristone with doses of progesterone.

However, abortion activists are trying to discredit it, calling it unproven and dangerous, and in the UK, at least two doctors have been punished for providing the treatment to mothers who seek it out after they regret their abortions.

“There is something very wrong going on when a medical doctor is prohibited from saving babies’ lives at a time when we are told we must do everything to save lives in response to coronavirus,” said Christian Legal Centre chief executive Andrea Williams, whose organization is representing Kearney. “These women were urgently seeking help after abortion providers closed the door and said there was no hope and no way back after taking the first pill.”

Williams criticized the medical board for prohibiting a doctor from doing his job: saving lives.

The pro-life organization Christian Concern also has been raising awareness about Kearney’s case. Its leaders emphasized the importance of the abortion pill reversal treatment after the British government began allowing the at-home use of abortion drugs last year.

Here’s more from the report:

Christian Concern provided a case where Kearney helped a woman by the name of Laura who, upon regretting taking Mifepristone and realizing its terminal effect on her unborn child, immediately sought medical assistance but could not find it in the U.K.. She ended up finding an organization in the U.S. that referred her to Kearney who promptly attended to her and assisted her throughout the process.

“I could not be happier. I do not believe Dr. Dermot Kearney should be punished for providing me with a service I so desperately needed and will be eternally grateful for,” Laura told Christian Concern. “It is because of his help that I can look back on the moment I took that pill without having to live with pain and regret for the decision I took, as I now have my beautiful baby boy.”

At least one other pro-life doctor, Dr. Eileen Reilly also has been punished for providing the life-saving treatment in the UK.

In May, the UK General Medical Council prohibited Reilly from practicing medicine without supervision while it conducts an investigation to determine whether further discipline is warranted.

The pro-abortion group Open Democracy is behind the effort to punish these doctors for their life-saving work. It recently conducted an undercover sting to find out which doctors in the UK provide the treatment and then reported them to medical authorities.

Notably, the group did not identified any complaints or complications from women who underwent the abortion pill reversal treatment and saved their unborn babies’ lives.

Many women who have sought the treatment share how thankful they are that doctors helped them reverse the abortion process and save their babies’ lives.

A 2018 peer-reviewed study showed up to 68 percent of women who changed their mind about an abortion and started the abortion pill reversal treatment were able to give birth to healthy babies. The study also found no increased risk of birth defects or preterm births.

The abortion pill reversal procedure works by counteracting the abortion drug mifepristone, one of two typically taken together to abort an unborn baby. Mifepristone makes the uterus inhospitable to new life by blocking the hormone progesterone. The reversal procedure involves giving the mother doses of progesterone to counteract the abortion drug. The abortion pill reversal procedure does not work after the mother takes the second drug, misoprostol, one or two days later.

Anyone who has taken the first abortion pill and wishes to stop the abortion is urged to immediately visit www.abortionpillreversal.com or call the Abortion Pill Reversal hotline at 877-558-0333.
